Top 12 Must Try Restaurants in Huntsville
Huntsville is home to many great restaurants. While I might not be the best judge on food, I found these popular restaurants as some of the best tasting places in the Huntsville area. I have broken them up into categories to better help define the types of food items. While some reviews may be based based on taste, others are ranked on popularity, price and atmosphere. If you are interested in a more detailed review of each restaurant, please visit my restaurant review page at: www.huntsvillescoop.com/restaurantreviews
1. Atmosphere and Dining Experience:
Huntsville is full of great places to eat, whether you enjoy a quiet cozy place or a fun and exciting venue, there is much to choose from. For those who like fine wine, private dining and world class cooking, I suggest Purveyour, the Bottle and the Cotton Row. Each are on the pricy side but well worth the dining experience, especially during special occasions.
2. Fresh and Healthy Menu:
Those that are health conscience, Huntsville has several great places to eat that are affordable and well-worth the visit. My favorite is Mason Dixon Bakery & Bistro. Their entire menu is gluten-free, while they also offer soy-free, vegan, vegetarian, egg-free and dairy-free but don’t let that stop you. They serve some of the best gluten-free breads and dishes and you won’t even notice the difference. For a terrific place to enjoy sandwiches, Kombucha and salads, I love Chef Will The Palate and Tribal Kombucha located at Lowe Mill and then at 1892 East Restaurant & Tavern, they also offer a wide and fresh selection of healthy dishes too. If you are wanting organic grass-fed burgers I recommend Farm Burger located next to Wholefoods. It’s a popular chain who helps support local farmers using fresh and local ingredients. Don't forget to check out Hound and Harvest located near downtown. They have a great selection of healthy dishes to include gluten free and plant based entrees.
3. Stacked Tasty Burger:
Huntsville is home to several great and appetizing burger joints. Whether you are in the mood for a greasy and juicy burger or just want a piled-high, well-done burger, there are many places to choose from. My three favorite burger diners are Big Daddy's, The Cozy Cow, The Melt and Hunt Club Burger & Grill. All four have a wide variety to choose from. For those who would like to try something a little different but incredibly tasty, Anaheim Chili is a must.
4. Golden Brown Char Grill Chicken:
Some people love steak while others prefer that golden brown baked, fried or sautéed chicken. My favorite places to dine for chicken is Cyn Shea’s café, Sac’s Kitchen, Main Street Cafe and Good Company Café. All four places have a friendly atmosphere and a great selection on their menu. For those that love that wonderful smoky barbeque flavor, Moe’s Original BBQ will delight your palate. I must also include Fire & Spice, and Carrabba’s famous Chicken Bryan and Chicken Marsala to the mix.
5. Sizzling Seared Steak:
My favorite steak restaurant would have to be Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse. It is one of the pricier restaurants in Huntsville but well worth the price. The Charred and buttered sautéed steak makes it a great choice for the occasional dining experience. Connor’s Steak and Seafood, Purveyor, Cotton Row, and Texas de Brazil follows in the mix.
6. Best flavorful International Restaurants:
We Americans enjoy a wide array of different restaurants from all over the world. Huntsville is home to many cultural cuisines. My favorite international foods include Indian, Thai and Vietnamese. Ruchi has a large and great selection of spicy Indian curry dishes. Also known for their curry dishes is Thai Garden’s delicious coconut curry chicken, while Viet Huong serves many fresh and tasty Pho soups. All three are a must along with other great international restaurants.
7. Smothered Marinated Italian:
If it wasn’t for all the calories in Italian food, I would be eating out at an Italian restaurant daily. Here in Huntsville we have a great selection of Italian restaurants. My top four Italian restaurants are: Nick’s Ristorante, Mazzara’s Italian Kitchen, Terronova’s Italian and Mezza Luna. All four of these restaurants have dishes smothered in creamy cheeses and marinated sauces. Don’t get too full as you might regret it the next day.
8. Assorted Brewery Tasting:
Huntsville is home to over a dozen microbreweries. The most popular is Yellowhammer Brewing. My other three favorite Breweries are Old Black Bear Brewing Company, Green Bus Brewing, Below the Radar, Fractal Brewing Project, Mad Malts, Rocket Republic, Salty Nut, Innerspace, and Straight to Ale, but like all beer, they have their own distinct flavors. So get out there, be responsible and enjoy trying a few. Make sure to check out my brewery page for more - they’re all amazing. Breweries
9. Best Entertainment:
For fun and entertaining places to eat, The Stovehouse, Supper Hero, The Camp, Campus No. 805, Bigfoot’s Little Donuts, Top Golf, Dave and Busters, Pints and Pixels and the Toy Box Bistro will fit the bill. Every single place have a great bar side food and dish selections. Come out and enjoy a great time with your friends and family.
10. Stoned Baked Pizza:
Pizza is a favorite among American families and there are not any shortages of Pizzerias in Huntsville! For those that love the stone baked pizzas, you can’t miss Earth and Stone Wood Fired Pizza and Cork and Crust Pizzeria. Other notable and yummy pizzerias are Sam and Greg’s Pizza (they just won an award for best restaurant in June 2020), MOD pizza, Big Ed Pizza and Tortora’s Pizza with their 28 draft beer selection.
11. Authentic Spicy Asian:
Huntsville has many Chinese restaurants, most of which include both dining and takeout. For those who want to enjoy a relaxing full dining experience, P. F. Chang’s is probably your best choice. If you enjoy a quick and tasty takeout, my two favorite places are China Cook and China Moon. Both places have wonderful and friendly owners who cook both traditional and American style Chinese dishes.
12. Traditional Mexican:
Mexican Restaurants are numerous throughout Huntsville. Some people enjoy traditional Mexican while others go for the modern American Mexican style. Either choice, there are many Mexican restaurants to choose from. For traditional Mexican, La Esquina Cocina, Phil Sandoval’s and Phil Sandovals. Hops & Guac, Rosie’s Cantina and El Olmeca are also delicious and great choices too.
