It can be challenging searching for the right nursery that has the best prices and selection, especially for those unique plants that can’t be found at the big box stores such as Lowes, therefore I have taken the time to do some research and have come up with the best list for your nursery needs. If you’ve lived in the Huntsville area for some time, you may already have found your favorite places such as myself. In this top list I didn’t mention Huntsville Botanical Gardens, yet they do sale plants. Keep an eye out for their special sales throughout the year offered by their garden clubs. Top Nurseries in Huntsville:

# 1 Bennett Nurseries

Topping my list at #1 for the best nursery in the Huntsville area would be Bennett Nurseries. Their wide selection of plants are absolutely incredible. They stay up to date on seasonal flowers and offers herbs, shrubs, trees and groundcovers. They carry just about anything, if not they most likely can order it for you. On certain weekends they have relaxing live music performing as you stroll through their pathways scoping out all the unique plants and flowers. They also provide large carts to make life easier instead of toting your plants around while chasing your kids. Who likes free lunch? If so, they even provide free grilled chicken cooked over hickory or cherry wood during certain weekends in the spring and fall time. You can bring Fido along while shopping for plants, as long as he is on a leash. If you have kids, they will enjoy the hobby train that chugs along through the little train village that sits beside the stage and live band.

Not only is this place enjoyable with an amazing plant selection but the staff are amazingly helpful and friendly. I cannot count how many times I needed assistance or some basic advice. If you are a “green” thumb as I (a newer gardener), then this is the place to learn about your plants. They are full of professional advice, which is greatly appreciated when Google just does not quite help. Just a year ago I drove hours to a kiwi farm to purchase some vines while each one died, yet the ones I purchased from Bennett Nurseries are still thriving and happy. Bennett is the oldest established plant nursery in Huntsville, and you’ll always feel welcomed and inspired. It has definitely made me a better gardener which is the main reason I put them on the top of my list. Make sure to pop over next door to ‘Across the Pond’ (they’re walking distance) where they have garden accents, koi pond equipment, fountains and landscaping rocks to compliment your outdoor space.

#2 Earth Touch

Earth Touch is one of my favorite nurseries in Huntsville for so many reasons. Their quality of plants and prices are excellent but they offer so much more than just plants. They also have a large selection of wonderful bulk stone, gravel, mulch, straw and soil conditioners. If that’s not enough, Earth Touch also has statues, ceramics, seasonal items and unique air plants. Every time I come into Earth Touch I find something new. Their extraordinary selection is impressive but their friendly service makes this one of my favorite places. My only problem, every time I visit, I end up purchasing more plants than I intended; but no worries they’re always offering to transport my plants to the car.

#3 The Greenery

The Greenery is stationed on 10 acres, just east of Huntsville. They have an enormous selection of plants and décor items to choose from. With their large selections you may spend the day there shopping. They also have a bulk supply section, garden center and home store area to find exactly what you’re looking for.

#4 Enchanted Forest

Located in Madison, AL, you will be enchanted here as it is such a beautiful and relaxing place to enjoy your afternoon. Make sure you walk the entire grounds as you do not want to miss the large variety of plants, peat moss, trees, pots, flowers, water fountains and garden accessories. They are always very helpful and friendly and love to give advice about gardening. The Enchanted Forest is definitely a place to visit for all the plant enthusiast out there, especially for those who are looking for top quality plants at reasonable prices. They even carry high quality sod pallets which always look impressive and healthy. I have purchased quite a bit of sod and various plants from both Lowes and Home Depot, but never again will I after finding my favorite locally owned nurseries in the Rocket City. Although they are known for their many unique plants, they also carry Christmas trees and holiday gifts during the busy holidays.

#5 The Catbird Seat Garden Center

With so many plants to choose from at The Catbird Seat, they make my top list at number 5. Including their good prices and knowledgeable expertise, they have a lot to offer in our awesome Rocket City. Their shrubs, trees, and ornamentals are excellent and even offer Bonsai Trees and unique plants that are hard to find. From everything seasonal to sprucing up your yard with color, The Catbird Seat is a great choice.

#6 Indian Creek Nursery

Also located in Madison is Indian Creek Nursery who supply premium plants and even some that are really difficult to find. The nursery/greenhouse has many varieties to select from, for both individuals and commercial landscapers. It is ranked as one of my favorites (I know I have a lot), and they will always go out of their way to help and give you the best advice and gardening tips. They will also take plant request if you can’t find what you’re looking for. If you’re in search for some ceramic gardening products, they have a great selection of ceramic pottery and statues. Their core values at Indian Creek Nursery makes them as one of the best in the Tennessee Valley area and obviously a top choice on my list.

#7 Huntsville Garden and Nursery Center

Huntsville Garden and Nursery Center is located in Owens Cross Roads and has a great selection of shrubs, trees, perennials, bulk top soil and annuals. I was surprised to also find vegetable plants and an amazing variety of roses here. Their competitive prices are outstanding and their friendly customer service makes Huntsville Garden and Nursery Center a top choice on my list.

#8 C.T. Garvin

C.T. Garvin Feed & Seed has a good selection of plants, but they’re also known for their wide selection of garden accessories, feed & seed, pet supplies and baby chicks. Don't hold one of them as you might be taking them all home. They custom make their own feed in the back of their store. If you have animals, you can save lots of money buying their bulk items. Every time I shop at C.T. Garvin, I’m always greeted with friendly smiles and they’re always helpful in finding everything I’m looking for. From their plants to fertilizers and extras, they’re definitely a unique store to try out.
