Top Farmers Market in Huntsville
For a lot of us, we like to know where our food is grown and if it is chemical free. It is also nice to know that you’re supporting your local farmers. I have listed the farmers’ markets in alphabetical order instead of ranking them as they are always changing and improving. Some offer more organically grown foods while others offer a larger variety. I find some farmers’ markets have a better selection of fresh produce while others have a nicer assortment of jams, baked goods and novelty items such as goat soap, cheese, and cut flowers. Most of our farmers’ markets are open one day a week but a few are open the entire weekend. Farmers’ markets are usually seasonal and are closed during the winter months, so check their websites for specific information.

Ayers is not your typical farmers’ market, where a lot of different farmers come to the market to sell their products, rather Ayers has one owner. The market does have a few other farmers that sell their produce here, but it is not set up as a typical farmers’ market. With this said, what is nice about Ayers is that they are the only farmers’ market that are open several days of the week. While they do not sell much in terms of organic products, they do have a good selection of fresh local veggies, jams, honey and a nice selection of Amish produce. Prices seem higher than most farmers’ markets in the local area, but they do look fresh and clean. The market is in a covered building and has a really nice parking lot for larger vehicles.

Baily Cove Farmers’ Market is one of my favorite markets – perhaps I am a tad bias as this is the closest farmers’ market to me. It is located at St. Thomas Episcopal Church in South Huntsville. There is a great selection of vegetables, fruits, artisan breads, jams, jellies, fresh eggs, sheep cheese, meats, flowers and plants. The market is uncovered but each table is under its own covered booth/tent.
